STAMFORD — Skin-care company Beiersdorf is relocating its North American headquarters from Wilton to Stamford, officials said, placing its main U.S. offices in a more central location to support its growth.

Known for brands such as Aquaphor, Coppertone, Eucerin, La Prairie and Nivea, Beiersdorf plans to move in mid-November to offices at 301 Tresser Blvd., in the downtown Stamford Plaza complex. About 185 employees will work out of the new offices.

The company’s main U.S. offices are now based at 45 Danbury Road in Wilton, its hometown since November 2011. It has a 10-year lease there that will soon end, according to company officials.

“We are excited to call the dynamic city of Stamford home to our new North America headquarters,” Mauricio Valdes, acting general manager of Beiersdorf North America, said in a statement. “Stamford’s rich cultural diversity, accessibility and convenience to both New York City and our new North America R&D Innovation Center (in New Jersey) will serve as the ideal hub for our continued growth and expansion in the region.”

The company has signed a lease for 27,492 square feet at 301 Tresser, according to the Stamford Office of Economic Development. With a campus covering approximately 1 million square feet — also including buildings at 263 Tresser, 281 Tresser and 107 Elm St. — Stamford Plaza represents one of the largest office complexes in Connecticut.

“I am confident that our newly designed space with its inspirational views and architecture will provide the perfect backdrop for our regional and global colleagues to connect, collaborate and innovate,” Valdes said.

Beiersdorf is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. In the U.S., it also has offices in Bentonville, Ark., and a soon-to-open global R&D Innovation Center in Florham Park, N.J. The company employs more than 20,000 worldwide.

At 301 Tresser, Beiersdorf’s offices will be located a block from the offices of another Germany-headquartered consumer-goods powerhouse, Henkel. The latter opened its North American consumer goods headquarters at 200 Elm St. in 2017.
