Justin Medeiros, CrossFit’s reigning Fittest Man on Earth and Rogue Invitational champ, has finally got his entire garage gym set up (he had previously showed off part of the space on Instagram) at his home in Boise, Idaho . The 22-year-old gave a full tour of his indoor/outdoor garage gym. The space was outfitted by one of his sponsors, Rogue Fitness, so he didn’t exactly need to stretch to source the gear.
The gym actually starts outside the garage.
“When I first got here, we didn’t have any mats out here, and the cement was like rock and there was no room to workout,” Medeiros shares. “So when we moved in we poured cement, and now there’s so much room to workout.”
Outside there’s a massive rig he uses for rope and ring training that he says was one of his first pieces of gear. Next, he moves inside the garage, and shares that he just had a new lat pulldown machine delivered. Next to that machine is a customized squat rack that has his last name emblazoned on a large nameplate.
Medeiros showed off his impressive dumbbell setup on a wooden rack, which holds weights that ranged from 5 to 125 pounds sets.
“It’s my pride and joy,” he says, noting that he put the rack together himself.
Next, he shows off his cardio machines. He keeps both an Assault AirBike and Rogue’s own Echo bike, since they’re both commonly used in CrossFit, and the Assault AirRunner.
“Especially out here in Boise, it snows and we get ice outside, so I don’t want to be running on the sidewalks and slipping,” he says.
One of Medeiros’ top pieces is a Concept9 SkiErg, which he says he’s “put a lot of time on” over the past two years of his career. He notes that when he travels, all the cardio equipment comes with him.
His GHD (glute ham developer) has resistance bands stacked and hanging on its side, which he likes because it’s the type of model that shows up in competition the most. Underneath that are his sandbags, including a 150-pound sandbag that he uses “all the time.” Earlier in his career, Medeiros had a shot at advancing to the game—but he was crushed by the sandbag event. His barbells stay stacked in the corner, which he says he uses in every workout. On the opposing wall, he has multiple jump ropes hung up.
He keeps an ab mat and an ab wheel (which he calls an ‘evil wheel’) in a basket, along with a speedbag trainer (a tool that’s used for upper body cardio which he got after seeing Mat Fraser’s home gym, who called it a “game changer”), and Fat Gripz. A final camera pan shows off kettlebells and plenty of chalk.
“This is pretty much it. It’s a little, tiny space but we try to get everything fit in that we can,” says Medeiros. “But I’ve been training out here since the Games, and I’m looking forward to it.”
